The best things about Autumn

I truly view each Season with great expectation. With Autumns arrival we have watched a sky full of swallows gathering food as they get ready for their migration. I had no idea how breathtaking and spiritual the whole experience would be. The way they form a tornado appearance in mass and with in seconds dive straight down to their nesting places. The sky is chaotic with movement and how they each know where to land in a second is beyond me..

I always look so forward to our Autumn Equinox neighbor dinner. Linda my neighbor and I both make a hearty soup and bake bread. This has been a tradition we have kept for sometime now. To my great happiness my friend also knitted me this beautiful soft alpaca cowl. I just love the colours. Itching to be worn...

My cooking books and teas have been brought and a small whistling kettle on the ready to brew. A new Le Creuset pot for my homely stews and soups. Boy did I struggle to choose which colour. Pumpkins by the dozen from our harvest..I've hung up the herbs to dry knowing they won't last the Winter frost. I just love cooking with my own herbs. Honey buckets stacked up from the local honey farm. I have also painted out our kitchen in a lovely soft yellow. All very light and happy~

I've been spinning favorite roving's to see me through beanie knitting this Winter. At the moment I am busy knitting Louisa Harding's 'Elderflower' Cape let. I have chosen handspun merino, dark and faded teal. So happy as its my first Lacey item.

LOVING Autumn and getting ready for Winter....

I love Autumn and your pictures are wonderful. I wish we lived a little further South so we could experience it more than our Qld version. Enjoy the warmth in the days.

Hello my dear sisata
You paint such a delightful picture of Autumn! I can almost smell soups and stews, feel the crisp air and picture the falling leaves. We look forward to welcoming those swallows when they start to arrive soon from our Africa. You know, it is so very specious that you have a good friend to share such a tradition with, to meet for an autumn meal. Really that is something very dear. As for that capelet - just exquisite! We had some days of glorious sunshine but Father Winter hasn't quite left us yet. Today we have had sleet with the hills in the distance all covered in snow. Lots of areas nearby have received quite a bit of snow. Enjoy your autumn and all it brings; knitting, warm fires and squashes and herbs and the warmth of friends. Love to you!
