The Buddhist Temple

A 45 min drive from where we live stands this magnificent Buddhist Temple. We were overcome with emotion at the mere sight of this holy building. Moya(our teacher) and I decided to take the kids on an outing today. The colors,the paintings... In reverence we took off our shoes and walked the great halls in peace. The monks were gentle, soft spoken, friendly and welcoming. Ever been somewhere and thanked the heavens for your beautiful day...?

A Great start to Spring

This weekend we decided to visit our favorite Nursery called "The Four Seasons". We love this nursery as it is so relaxed and homely. Everyone picked out some seedlings and enjoyed the hot day. We then spent the afternoon planting and had friends over for our first braai (barbecue) of the Season. The girls helped decorate a lovely festive table. It was market day today . I found some lovely linen and crochet pieces. I also found a lovely crocheted bag. Definitely waiting for some Summer cotton knitting to place in there.

Our Trip to Jan Smuts Museum

Irene is a lovely little village not too far away. They scenery was so peaceful. We went to the little market they have in the grounds of Jan Smuts home. Jan Smuts was a world fame statesman. He was a naturalist and a philosopher. He did not support apartheid and thought it was in his opinion "the greatest nonsense I have ever Heard" Wow if I could turn back time . During the general election in 1948 Jan Smuts resigned and the then president of South Africa took apartheid forward for the next 50 years.

finding a little country

Today I was on a mission to find a little bit of rural country in my home town. We decided to take the children on a "lets take a ride and see what we can find" trip. I live in a suburb on a lovely piece of land but its not the country. So, off we went stopping at every spot that felt like we were away from it all. We had the most glorious day of adventure. I was clicking away and Aaron found an ant hill, the girls were oohing and aahing about scenery and dad enjoyed the ride. Its days like these that make memories.
