Giving Love to our Garden Birds

We decided today was the day our garden birds needed a little bit of love. It has been really cold .We took our baskets and went pinecone hunting in the neighborhood. It was our Orange day so we felt quite bright and sunny. The children had each made a clay birdfeeder. They covered the pinecone in peanut butter and rolled the pinecone into a mixture of various bird seeds. The birds were spoilt with flax seeds, pumpkin seeds, seseme seeds and wildbird seed. We chose an African leopard tree just outside our schoolhouse so that we could watch from the window whilst they eat. We are now eagerly waiting for our bird friends to arrive.

What a beautiful family and home you have Suzanne!
We also enjoy this activity as a 'Christmas' gift for the birds.
The children's clay birdfeeders are beautiful!
Enjoy your week : )

Oh, I love to see children caring for the birds. We just had a bird catastrophe at our house. A hawk destroyed a tree swallow nest, hatchlings and all. Much grief.

Wonderful to find a like-minded homeschooling mom...

Hi Nichole

Our Winter days are sunny but cold. I am sure never as cold as you all seem to experience. These birdfeeders are what the children made at pottery.

Have a great weekend
Suzanne

Beautiful clay birdfeeders, Suzanne. What lucky birds to be given such lovely treats. We love the birds that visit our garden.
