Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow............

For some of you, this post would seem pretty regular but for us here, seeing snow is something quite special. We waited the whole day for possible snow and then just at the end of the day, it came down fast and furiously and then silently calmly, gentle snowflakes fell to the ground. I stood on my veranda watching a winter wonderland unfold . What an experience for our family~ one we lost ourselves way into the night....thank you thank you...these children have been wishing for snow for years~ a dream come true ! Hows that for a snowman I did have a laugh!...a character all on its own! a little animal like actually , gnomey! X

Cosy all round~

We have seen the middle of our Winter passing and have had some bitter cold days and some glorious warm days. No winter passes without beds wrapped in warmth, breads baked with love, lavender oils burning, baskets of oranges on the ready, knitting in progress racing to be finished and lemons in all their yellow glory hanging heavily from branches begging to be picked. We take advantage of the warm sunny days thrown at us like some gift sent from heaven and picnic all day long lying and chatting and bonding... Having spun this lovely wool, I made a cowl to warm my neck. I guess another 3 are in order as I wore it for the first time yesterday and it got whipped off and claimed by my daughters. Daniel's 1st Birthday

Its been a year of kissing, hugging, loving, laughing and crying, playing, and squeezing this little man... Happy Birthday Daniel who just loves his beautiful mommy! XXX

Our Winter Season

A cosy winter enters our home in quiet ways this year. We have really had such mild weather . Our fires have been burning through the day but on venturing outside, we could quite easily whip off our cardigans and beanies and bask in the beautiful Sun. Olivia and I decided to dress our nature table today. We have just pruned our Bay tree. No waste, as in came the branches to hang up and use for stews and broths. We have fed the birds today leaving fruit and seed around the garden. We too brightened Olivia's bedroom with more fairy lights and color. Love this little sweet Livy of mine...who just adores this fluffy little poodle.. I have been busy. Just a different kind of busy. Clearing clutter, looking after sick kiddies and spinning some wool for cowls and hats. Really nice slubby wool for extra bulk. I hope you are basking in the Sun too as you enjoy your Summer Days~ Please take note of my dear mini chicken. She has decided she does not belong in the farmyard with the other chickens. No, she wonders our home sleeping in corners laying eggs and nests at my feet. She really does make a good advert for 'chicken breasts' dont you think? ROUND, PLUMP, HEARTY ones~! Waking to a beautiful day

I awoke to this new day full of sunshine and new hope. Being thankful that we have a very supportive loving family. This little sunbird so small with a chirp so high pitched and sweet, rang out for me. This little bird has kept me on my toes this week trying ever so hard to capture it on camera. We dont get hummingbirds here but these almost equally small birds suck nectar from flowers. They are fast and move allot. The male has the color of a peacock feather on its chest and the female has a white chest and black body. Aaron and I spotted them for the first time last Winter and we are so happy to have them back again. Our wish is that their nest is hidden somewhere in our garden... Thank you for all your kind comments. The World does not stop to let you off during hard times like these and it is probably just as well it tells you to move on, press forward , all will be well~ My veranda that wraps the front of my home has been the most wonderful meeting place. Sun filled each moment of the day. It has been really cold here lately and our fires are burning. Those stews are being whipped up, slowly cooking through the day. Bread baking hasn't started yet but I have some new recipes that my family will enjoy. A happy day to you~ Suzanne X

In loving memory~

It is with great sadness that we lost my beautiful Nephew today. Matthew Cartey ( the young man on the left) He was shot and killed as he went into work today. So young..I am so disspointed and saddened by the Crime in our Country. It is very difficult to remain positive about South Africa at this time. Please send love and light to my Dear Sister and her family. Lots of love Suzanne

Mollie makes magazine and Malabrigo Rasta yarn

Oh so excited that I managed to get back orders on Mollie makes magazine. Have you all browsed through one of these delicious magazines yet??? Its a crafters feast! Have you ever found a magazine where absolutely every page holds your interest..Well, Mollie makes does. It truly is my kinda mag..My plans today are to sit at my bedroom window, sipping tea from my robbin mug, watching my garden and feeling the Sun on my back. Straight after that, its back to around the house chores~ Another exciting arrival this week was my stash of Malabrigo Rasta yarn. I know I am full of praise today but this truly is such wonderful super bulky yarn. Winter has not yet raised its head in my part of the world but when it does, I am sure going to throw this yarn at it. I have projects lined up and ones I am busy with and quite frankly, I am over loaded with knitting projects. If you have ever gone searching for this yarn on the net and wondered if the vibrant colors are those exact ones, THEY ARE! I was thrilled with the colors. The green, mauves, yellows and blues are 416 Indiecita and the Rust, mauve,purple, musk, greens, yellow and browns are 862 Piedras. We're all happy Down in the meadow. We harvested some bananas today too. Sweet wholesome bananas~ The kiddo's are schooling and coping, I am soaking in the warmth which is strange for this time of year and Mr Darcy seems just dandy. The Winter veg are well on their way and all the farmyard chickens are on strike. We all fight for that one egg that pops out every morning. Looking forward to Spring to see those eggs lining our fridge again~ Have a happy day Lots of love Suzanne X
