A Waldorf play 'The lion and the mouse'

I have mentioned before numerous times the influence Waldorf education has had on our family. Simple, caring, nurturing, soulful learning. All three of my children have benefited year after year . Pure honest from the heart teaching. Our live education homeschooling curriculum has been wonderful. Water color painting, moulding figures with her hands.. I have seen each of my children pass this phase in their learning and seeing Olivia confidently telling us about the Lion and the mouse and truly understanding the meaning behind her little play makes me so happy~

A wonderful weekend to you all

Warm regards

Renaissance ~ Rebirth

What a wonderful awakening in our home. Our 13 year old Brogan is coming into her own. The changes physically, mentally and emotionally are exciting and new. The Renaissance has been Brogans 7Th year learning block recently . The meaning in French "rebirth". So many wonderful personalities have been read about. I absolutely love gentle Waldorf learning. The 13 year old's new awareness runs completely parallel with the development of the European consciousness in the Renaissance. Our Live Education curriculum has worked so well for our children. Every inch of this beautiful pure inspired Waldorf curriculum has been a blessing.

Here I have Brogan painting Raphael's Sistine Madonna the Divine mother. It is one of the most celebrated of all paintings. She passionately moved her brush and involved her fingers to create this. Aaron is studying the Norse Myths. He chose to paint a viking ship on calm seas. I was intrigued by his interest and amazed at his color choice for the seas. My little Olivia is learning about nature. She is blossoming. She chose to paint the night skies. She chose to place herself looking up at the beautiful big moon. I just love how this turned out. To me this looks like the bigger picture we all somehow seem to miss sometimes. I think my Little artists have amazing talent here.

A Happy day to you all~

Who said wash days were just for Mama......... ' Wash Wednesday'

We created our own little rhythm down in the meadow. Little Olivia has a Waldorf weekly rhythm chart that she fits in with her school work. We have water play days, painting days, baking days and drama days. Wash days are Mondays. Out comes the buckets, the willing hands , a little ray of sunshine, a smile or two and happy days!

Happy Wash Wednesday! (please click on the wash wednesday button on my side bar)

Wood and beeswax

Aaron completed a marble run this week. He thoroughly enjoyed sitting under the tree, drilling and joining. The heart does give a little leap when you see your children captured by a craft they enjoy. Little livy made this beautiful Mother Mary beeswax sculpture for our nativity scene. I loved to see her melt her wax in the warm Sun and then mould it between those cute little fingers. The smell of beeswax and fresh wood shavings made me a happy Mama today.
Happy weekend to all

Aarons Wind Vane

Aaron is thoroughly enjoying learning about the weather. This week he learnt how wind is measured and made a wind vane. It now hangs in our Old Faithful backyard tree. ...with all the other projects the children have completed this year. I purchased this Summer book a while ago and we have had so many lovely days of fun using it. I highly recommend it . Olivia made a birthday calendar and is counting down eagerly. Noodle is healthy and bouncy. Growing by the day. Our new silky chickens have transformed as you can see. You just have to LOVE them. Our egg laying girls are looking very healthy. Our days are Sunny and Summer is showing its bright warm self. I love this Season ....
Happy week end to you all dear friends

Spring has Sprung

Spring is happening....Our orchard fruit trees are fill of blossoms. The weather is warm. The root children have stripped off their Winter Woollies and are darting here and there as I look out of the odd window of our home. Great excitement, giggling and begging for water play has begun. We had a lovely Spring day dancing around the May (Spring) pole. The children Sang and clapped to songs. The beginning of a Season is always welcomed warmly here in our meadow.

It's wash day Monday

It's wash day Monday. Olivia got to do some water color painting and created a new weekly chart. We love following the colors and foods of the day. With Spring day here tomorrow, the warmer weather gives us the opportunity to play with water outside..Happy days for us. Here Beauty is showing Olivia how she washes her clothing in her rural home. A large bar of pure sunlight soap and a pair of strong hands makes for bright clean clothes.

Play Areas

When I first started Waldorf homeschooling, I had no example of a little ones play area. Not having a Waldorf Community to belong too, I so longed to see other play areas. I read and browsed where I could. I hope Olivia's play area will help someone else needing to set up. I still have loads of baskets filled with fleece and wool and blocks that I need to add. I have a wooden toy box filled with dress up clothing too. I would also like to add her alphabet drawings to the wall as she learns each letter. She still needs an area like this. I have noticed a strong connection with having this area in her bedroom rather than in our allocated schooling area.

The speed of sound

On Thursday we went down to the bird sanctuary . We have a lovely large park there . One of Brogan's activities was to measure the speed of sound. We took two large planks of wood. Aaron stood with me. His job was to let the one plank of wood fall onto the other. Claire and Brogan stood on the other side of the park and gave Aaron the go ahead to drop the plank. We discovered that we needed a field double the size. So, on a hunt for a big field we go....

Bottles of Music

We have had such a lovely introduction into the world of Physics . To end Brogan's block, yesterday our activity was a project showing different notes using bottles with varying quantities of coloured water. Aaron is busy doing measurements in Maths so he got to do all the measuring. Olivia got to do all the pouring and Brogan tied the bottles and got to play some lovely Music.
