A new Season










Celebrating Autumn around the home is an energy I love to feel. A new Season starts, an old Season fades and a future Season starts getting ready to come forward. Pumpkins and squash have been harvested. Garlic,cabbage, brussel sprouts, cauliflower and broccoli have been sowed. Leaves are falling, wood has been stacked in the outside store room and a new recipe book has been compiled for new meals. Wool has been spun,dyed and a new blanket is taking shape for my cold knees in our Winter months.

I am milking the last of our warmth by retreating to the orchard for my daily sun tan. Have you ever felt that feeling of being enveloped by the Sun..I wish I could spread the news to all those needing love and warmth and energy to just take a few moments of your day to lay outside and read. Perhaps fall asleep for a short while to feel your soul rejuvenate. I will always maintain that if we seek it, we have been given so much for free. So much that we miss..so much that could make us truly rich.

Just to ease into another phase of my blogging,( call my absence writers cramp or one long holiday of contemplation), I have just taken random photographs of inspirational moments. I have so much to say,show and share. I have picked goldenrod flowers to dye the most gorgeous yellow wool. Olivia's room has had a move around. I also purchased this gorgeous french dresser at a market for her room. I still have to put handles on it. We have had lovely Summer meals under our beautiful tree. My children are constantly learning new things and physically everyone has shot up a few centimeters. Homeschooling is going so well.

    Oh wow! What a fantastic house you have. I initially thought the photos were from a home mag - stunning! I am also in the Southern hemisphere and am enjoying the onset of Autumn. Jo :)

    On of my favorite things about time spent in the sunshine is the way my children carry the smell of sun in their skin. I love that moment of giving them a hug and thinking (saying) You smell like sunshine.

    Also, I have TONS of Lilac bushes on my farm :) Let me see if my husband knows when and how to gather seeds from them and if we can successfully do this, I will send some to you as well :)

    Hello Dear Suzanne. I've missed you so much. I'm so glad you had a wonderful summer. I love all of your snapshots of special moments and places. The French dresser is exquisite and the rearrangement of the bedroom is fantastic. Love the herbs hanging on the hearth.
    We had a very cold winter here and Spring is in fits and starts. I hope I can get out in the garden and start planting but it's been so cold. Enjoy your orchard and the last days of warmth. So very good to see you again. Sending you big hugs.

    Lovely to revisit your warmth in your posts again. How I love your comfortable cottage style French home. It's all so beautiful. I would feel right at home there...Autumn is a special golden season. So pretty.
    Oh Suzanne I know what you mean about sunshine, I couldn't live without it... but now I long for some cold weather just to rest because we are never "indoors".

    Suzanne- I am a new visitor to your beautiful blog. I visited earlier just as you were going on your break"- so I am happy to see you back. I love your photos- your creative inspirations as you've called them. Love the newly dyed wool (I'm a knitter too!)

    It's hard to remember that you are just beginning your fall season there- as we are all so overjoyed to FINALLY feel the warmth of the spring sunshine here!

    Such a beautiful post....I love love cath kidston! Just discovered her recently; I love her fabrics, mixing bowls, doggie beds...had even filled a shopping cart online;) waiting till our move is complete...then I'll click on checkout!

    I love to tan just like you. I find that the sun helps me calm down and helps increase my energy. The sun is a powerful healing tool.
