Little Robins
As far as I can remember 'Robins' have always been little birds that have fascinated me. Numerous story books as a child had Robins illustrating stories and of course Christmas stories seem to portray this cute little friend too. We have a few in our garden but they are such private little things that we never know where they live. This week I had a very frustrated son. He just was not satisfied. He wanted to go here and there. Was somewhat demanding of my time . He especially felt like going out and about. Unusual for him. Seeking something to fill a space. Eventually I told him that happiness was often found outside and that he needed to go exploring. the outside schoolroom has never let me down. With a huff and a BIG puff, he spent time on his own looking for little oak trees to bonsai. On one of these bottom in the air, nose to the ground efforts, he heard some faint little calls. There in our miniature date palm was a little nest with three baby Robins. Mouths yellow and wide open waiting for Mama to bring some worms. Well, Aaron was delighted...I was delighted. Gifts like these are there if we just stop, listen and open ourselves to the other little world out there. So, Aaron found his small oak tree and has a little family of Robins to watch grow. What a treasure~!
I too have this young man making our green juice shots in the mornings. He collects the wheatgrass and sunflower seedlings, washes and prepares. I am very pround of him and his sisters for taking these shots daily.
A happy day to you all~
I love those signs of spring; little robins are precious. Will you son come make wheat grass shots for me? Love you,Susan

Suzanne,
ReplyDeleteI think it is wonderful that your family has their daily green shakes - what a blessing for their health.
As the robins are departing here near the Canadian border, it brings joy to learn of their arrival down in your part of the world.
Thank you so much for your thoughtful note!
Warm wishes,
Tonya

ReplyDeleteHi Suzanne, nice to meeting you. Your blog is lovely, must read some of your past posts right away. I'm a mother of 4, my children go to a Waldorf school. Homeschooling is not that easy to accomplish in the Netherlands, but I would have LOVE to do so!
ReplyDeleteThank you for entering my giveaway, I threw the Suzanne-notes in the big bowl. Fingers crossed!
Wishing you a happy week. xx
We consider the robins to be special friends as well. How nice that they shared their little secret with Aaron.

What a beautiful discovery. The robins are so sweet. It's been warm here the last few days but I'm noticing that the birds are leaving for the winter so autumn mustn't be far behind.
ReplyDeleteIt's so great that you family is sharing their little green shakes. We've been drinking carrot/apple juice shots in the morning and afternoon. Be Well . Big hugs.
So neat to your signs of life return, as ours begins to drift back to sleep
ReplyDeletehello - visiting via magic Onions. I loved your photographs - especially the robins. I think your robin is different from our European one, and the American robin is different again?
ReplyDeleteWe enjoy green juices too, even better now my husband has taken over the task. xx
Oh my goodness...what darling robins!
ReplyDeleteSERIOUSLY! Be proud of your kids for taking the wheat shots....oh if only I could get my too to enjoy the wonders of pure green energy..alas, they have started eating spinach salads..which is a start. It is a gift to see such life and rebirth coming from your blog. I can just feel it as I watch the crackling, dry, dead leaves fall from their sturdy arms to the cool autumn ground below. The wind is whistling brrrrr......
ReplyDeleteHello Suzanne, it's been a while since I visited your blog and it's always lovely and sweet.
ReplyDeleteI feel the same way with those precious little robins. My children do love their greens, spirulina, chlorella - they help collect our herbs for our evening teas at sunset.
